Turkish Kilim Types
Sofra
This Turkish kilim has been typically used as an eating mat because of its size. Similar to the Sumak, the Sofra is first flatwoven and then needle embroidered. As with all Turkish kilims, the flatweave style is durable and easy to wash and care for.
Sumak
This type of Turkish kilim is made up of a combination of silk, wool, and cotton. The Noah's Ark scene is a common theme found on these pieces. The Turkish kilim is first flatwoven, and then needle embroidered. The Sumak is generally bigger in size when compared to the Sofra.
